As an experienced trader who examines every detail before committing funds, I’ve taken a cautious approach to evaluating SAMCO’s fee structure. For equity delivery trades, SAMCO charges a flat ₹20 per order or 0.20%, whichever is lower. For intraday and F&O (futures and options) trades, the cost is notably lower at 0.02% per executed order or ₹20 per order, again whichever is lesser. This kind of flat-fee structure can be advantageous if you are transacting in higher volumes, as your costs will be capped per order. However, for smaller trades, these fees could be relatively significant compared to a percentage-based commission. It’s important to recognize that while the commission is clear, the actual spreads—meaning the difference between the buying and selling prices—are not explicitly disclosed. Since SAMCO operates as a discount broker in India dealing mainly in stocks, futures, currencies, and commodities, the spreads will usually follow what the underlying exchanges display, rather than being broker-determined. Nevertheless, traders should always verify the real execution spreads, particularly in fast-moving or less-liquid market conditions where discrepancies can, and sometimes do, occur. Moreover, other potential hidden costs such as brokerage charges, taxes, exchange fees, and settlement charges can add up, especially for active traders. In my experience, clarity on all direct and indirect expenses is essential to preserve trading capital and avoid costly surprises. Given SAMCO’s lack of valid regulatory oversight, I personally view this as a reason to be even more meticulous in reviewing all the applicable trading costs before opening an account.
