This increases the counterparty risk, and as someone who values capital preservation, I find this situation worrisome. Ultimately, the protective mechanisms I typically rely on when depositing and trading with a broker—such as third-party audits, segregated accounts, or access to regulatory ombudsmen—are not present here. For these reasons, I would weigh the potential risks very seriously before considering opening an account or transferring funds to Mashreq.
