From my experience navigating various brokers, HSBC presents a very particular range of instruments, and this is crucial for traders to consider. While some expect to find forex, indices, or commodities with a global financial institution like HSBC, my research and personal review confirm that HSBC does not provide trading in forex, indices, commodities, or cryptocurrencies. Instead, their trading products and investment opportunities are centered around more traditional assets. For me, what truly distinguishes HSBC is their focus on shares, trusts, bonds and certificates of deposit, structured products, warrants and CBBCs, initial public offerings (IPOs), gold, and sustainable ESG-related investments. This narrower selection reflects their role as a comprehensive banking and wealth management provider rather than a dedicated multi-asset trading platform. For traders who prioritize forex or wish to speculate on commodities or digital assets, HSBC simply is not designed for that purpose. In my opinion, understanding this distinction is essential for risk management and setting appropriate expectations; HSBC fits best for those seeking exposure to securities markets and wealth solutions with the reassurance of longstanding, regulated banking operations, but it won’t suit the needs of active multi-asset day traders.
