The FCA regulates financial firms in the UK to ensure transparency and consumer protection. Any firm offering financial services must be registered with the FCA. Investors dealing with unauthorized firms may not be able to recover their funds if these firms collapse or engage in fraudulent activities.
The FCA urges investors to verify the legitimacy of financial firms before engaging in any transactions. One of the key protections for investors dealing with FCA-authorized firms is the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If a regulated firm collapses, investors may be eligible for compensation:
• Up to £85,000 per person for lost deposits from a failed financial institution.
• Compensation for investment losses if the firm engaged in fraudulent or improper conduct.
• Faster resolution and potential recovery of funds through the FCAs intervention.
